Cholesterol
Cholesterol is important and necessary to have in order to build cell walls, but the levels of cholesterol need to be at a healthy level. Humans need "good" cholesterol (HDLs - high-density lipoproteins), which protect against heart attacks. "Bad" cholesterol (LDLs - low-density lipoproteins) is found in fried foods and cause heart attacks, heart disease, and clog arteries. Cholesterol medication helps monitor cholesterol levels among those at risk but oftentimes is not enough. Exercise helps play an integral part in reducing high cholesterol levels.
Cholesterol is primarily from diet, genetics and excess weight. Decrease levels of carbohydrates and fat from your diet, and eat low-calorie, low-fat foods. Eat essential grains, fruits and vegetables for a long life and healthy cholesterol levels.
Various cholesterol medications may be suggested for reduction in cholesterol. Common medications are targeted to decrease triglycerides and LDLs and increase HDLs. Seek help from your doctor to find the best cholesterol medication for you.
